Mieczyslaw arms on parade

Given that the time for mustering the troops had finally come this spring, the Ducal artisans were encouraged to interpret the formations.

Here are the results:

Cavalry Forces of Mieczyslaw; 14 Squadrons: 3 Trotters, 4 Dragoons, 3 Hussards and 4 Irregular militia.

Infantry Forces of Mieczyslaw; 32 Infantry Companies: Organized into 6 Battalions in 2 Brigades.

The Grand Review.

For those interested I have assembled a power-point presentation of these troops in a marchpast, but as the file is rather large you should post to me your return email address and I will forward it.

Nice looking army, which figures are you using.

They are mods of Dixon miniatures.

Actually, Murdock, the listing of the army by squadron and company (organized into the larger units) is a very good idea. I think that I will adopt it as well, if you don't mind.

I particularly like the final photo ("Forces of the Duchy of Mieczyslaw") with its overhead view within the town.

Not at all Jeff, considering I got it from reviewing your 'standard force' list and trying to sort out the basings and how I was going to make it all work with the materials that I have.

Exchange of ambassadorial links: The King of Wittenberg having heard reports of your excellently equipped army is keen to exchange links.

I've added a link onto my blog. Looking forward to seeing how things develop in the Duchy

Hello Murdock,

Good looking troops and flags there! Have any goatherds from Hesse-Engelburg infiltrated the ranks though?

Best Regards,

Stokes Schwartz

Very nice, and I'll echo the applause of the listing by squadron and company. I'll probably steal that idea for Hesse-Engelburg as well, particularly as my initial order will leave me with a half-battalion of figures left over after the first regiment, the which I had intended to begin as initial companies of a regiment in the midst of forming.

Re: Stokes - The Social Secretary for Wednesdays has no comment upon that query. However, certain rumors to that effect may in fact have surfaced in the press.

Infiltration of the ranks of the one (reserve) formation of the Coronet Korps would not be difficult at all.

How much could be learned from marching with these mercenaries is of greater question.

Worse still is the risks run by such a spy in absenting himself from the ranks in order to report his findings ... unless the entire crew is out on a drunk!

If found later the exaction of 'kissing the gunners daughter' is well known among the Coronet Korps veterans.
